Pupil Council

We look to be inclusive and ensure all our pupils have an opportunity to contribute fully to the life and development of the school. We have a very active pupil council who take on a variety of responsibilities and take the lead in fundraising initiatives.

Children With Special Abilities/Needs

The School operates a support programme for children, in line with the National Code of Practice. To this end we keep a register of children with special needs. In this way we make certain your child receives the help he or she needs. Parents are consulted when a child moves on or off the register or moves between stages. The programme enables the school to monitor any child’s progress and to seek help and advice where required. Please ask the school if you require details. To support children with special needs the school has a Special Needs co-ordinator, who maintains the register and a Special needs teacher who provides extra teaching where required. The S.E.N. tutor is available, like other teachers, for consultation.

The needs of Gifted and Talented pupils are well catered for within the school.

School aims to work in partnership with parents at all stages of special support.

School Rules/Discipline

A friendly, family atmosphere is fostered throughout school in which positive behaviour is praised and disciplinary problems are rare. We encourage all pupils to subscribe to a simple Code of Conduct in which a sense of mutual respect is expected of everyone. We have high expectations in terms of behaviour.
School rules are clear and kept to a minimum and are concerned mainly with respect and consideration for each other and personal and group safety in the playground and classroom.

Children know what is expected of them and sanctions would take the form of ‘loss of privileges'. Where a child’s behaviour at school is causing concern, parents will be informed and asked to visit school to discuss the problem with their child’s teacher.

House System

Each child is allocated to a school House – Robins, Swifts, Kingfishers – and may be rewarded with house points for excellent effort, excellent work, good behaviour and for taking responsibility seriously.
